Twice as Mad Tom

Twice as Mad Tom IPA

This week the Muskoka Brewery released their much anticipated double IPA ‘Twice as Mad Tom’. It is available now at the Beer Boutique and various Beer Store and LCBO locations across Ontario. The new Tom incarnation is meant to become a new staple from the Brewery, adding to their list of deep and flavourful crafts.

A double IPA has a much more hoppy flavour because the hops are added dry, in rounds spanning several days, at two stages throughout the brewing process. It is brewed with three types of malted barley and five varieties of hops: Millennium, Chinook, Cascade, Columbus and Aurora.

With an IBU rating of 71, Twice as Mad Tom boasts a whopping 8.4% ABV, which is a sizeable increase from its saner twin. Tasters will note a much bolder flavour with resonating waves of bitterness.

For those who dare, Twice as Mad Tom can be purchased from the Beer Boutique in Toronto, or more widely from the Beer Store and LCBO in packs of four 355ml bottles. The price is $12.95 CAD. Additionally, you can find it on tap at your favourite craft beer establishment. Or why not take a trip to Bracebridge to visit the Muskoka Brewery and the fine people who brew there? All of the Muskoka beers are available for purchase in the storefront.
