Steam Whistle Oktoberfest

Greg and Sybil Taylor from Steam Whistle celebrating Oktoberfest

CANADA – Inspired by a staff trip to Oktoberfest in Munich, Steam Whistle takes in another European tradition at their brewery inside the historic John St. Roundhouse.

Steam Whistle co-founder, Cam Heaps says the inspiration for the event came from a staff trip to Europe and to the world famous Bavarian festival.

“We experienced such rich brewing heritage and beer culture in Europe that we were determined to recreate more of that same magic here at Steam Whistle” says Heaps. “Oktoberfest in Munich was spectacular: literally thousands of people together celebrating beer through camaraderie, song, food, folk culture and pageantry. We invite beer lovers to join in Steam Whistle’s version of this renowned festival.”

Their own Oktoberfest takes place inside the brewery from 3 PM to 11 PM on Saturday September 17, the same day Oktoberfest begins in Munch. The great George Kash and the Oktoberfest Express will entertain guests, while Steam Whistles Brewmaster, Marek Mikunda taps the first keg.

Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany began in 1810 as 16 days of festivities to celebrate the marriage of Bavaria’s King Ludwig to his bride Queen Therese. Today it is the world’s largest fair, hosting more than 5 million people, all there to celebrate beer!

Guests will always be greeted with Liter Steins of Steam Whistle Pilsner, gigantic doughy pretzels, lip-smacking pork hocks, folk dancers, and arm-linked crowds. $20 at the door includes your own liter stein to take home.
